"Carry Her" depicts the journey of identification in trans woman, Matty Daly as she navigates the metropolitan surroundings of New York City after transitioning. The recurring motif of wings, which was inspired by the fairy wings she got tattooed on her back when she first came out, reflects her newfound independence and metamorphosis as she transitions. We recognize her right to live openly in such environments by capturing her in moments and locations when she feels most vulnerable, as well as her fortitude to claim them as her own. This series not only recounts her journey, but also honors her courage and determination in carving out a space for herself in such a beautiful city.
